A peaceful, stable Middle East clearly brought about by policies initiated by a Republican administration is the worst thing imagineable for leftists (Communists, Socialist, Anarchists, Marxists, Progressives. Whatever we're calling them these days.) That's why we see them doing everything they possibly can to bring about a bad outcome in Iraq.
As a result, they may have foolishly mis-calculated, as those motivated by childish anger are wont to do.
Few Americans will forget the clearly seditious behaviour of those on the left or of those Democrats who have taken up their cause. Far too many Dems have made far too many statements which can't be disowned or credibly denounced. They may very well have passed the point of no return.
If things go well in Iraq, in spite of all their efforts, it may spell the end of the Democrat party in November.

PS. Keep in mind, I'm not a Republican. I'm not a registered anything. As I've written before, the Republicans are the worst of all political parties--unless you include Democrats.
